Welcome! My name is Stephanie and I am the creator of Growing Mindfully.
I have always been passionate about improving mental health and well-being among children and youth. I began my professional career pursuing a degree in Child Development and then working in a variety of positions focusing on alleviating mental health issues. Whether it was supporting a person contemplating suicide as a crisis line worker or referring families to counseling as a program coordinator, I recognized that there was a general lack of psychological understanding and awareness of what actually contributes to the development of mental health issues. It became clear that more work should be done to educate people on what they can do to prevent mental health issues from occurring in the first place or at least from becoming more severe.
My vision is for everyone to be equipped with psychological tools to help them navigate through life. I created Growing Mindfully as an education organization that provides the much needed knowledge regarding our thoughts, emotions, and behavior to help us understand why we do what we do. My belief is that if people are provided psychological education and taught how to cultivate better self-awareness through mindfulness practices, they will be empowered with the skills to make positive choices for their mental health and well-being. These choices then allow people to be more resilient to life’s hardships and challenges.
I’ve centered my services on working with families because of the important role they play in the development of our next generation. Through mindfulness and psychological education parents can help support positive well-being and growth among their children, while also understanding their own mental health and how it impacts their children.
